What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the ability to pay attention to our present experience, without judgement or criticism, but with open curiosity and kindness.
Mindfulness begins with being aware of what's going on in our minds at any given moment, without getting carried away by it. When we step outside ourselves and observe our thoughts, emotions and actions non-judgementally, we give ourselves freedom to choose how we respond to each situation. By being mindful, we learn to be awake in each moment and to better navigate the pressures of life.
We develop mindfulness informally through adopting a mindful approach to life, and formally through mindfulness meditation.
